NEW SOUL

Whoot whoot, after countless hours of hard work I FINALLY finished my pictograms! I am quite proud of myself too because I finished them BEFORE 10:00 the day before. That is a RARE occasion for me in an art class. I am more of the day before kind of gal but I actually started and finished most of this assignment about a week ago. My biggest fear for this assignment is that my teacher will say it looks like I didn't try and I threw it all together, because this assignment I actually didn't I really did try and did not throw it together in any way. I guess we will see tomorrow. Oh and again with the weird colors... the faces are actually like a light blue and the screen on the computer is a dark blue... oh and for some odd reason the computer on the far right just completely disappeared... oh gosh and the whole pictogram on the bottom... gosh this just keeps getting worse and worse as I notice more things. Anyway the one on the right has sound waves coming out of the computer. I swear it looks a lot better then this!

BIRD IN THE HOUSE!

So I have a rough draft.... I think... for the final part of my first project. I took my teachers suggestion and took a photo of my computer and traced it. It seemed to work and add depth and a little more interest. Also it looks like I spent more time this time, cause I did. I also changed my faces, not so sure how I feel about them but we will see. So... something interesting that happened to me while I was doing this... my neighbor William came over to borrow something and casually said, "there is a bird in your house." WHAT? So I look up and sure enough there is a bird INSIDE perched on the window. I have no idea how I did not notice it cause I was literally facing it but anyway we scooted it outside, chit chatted with it for a little while, and then it went on its way. It was weird though how long he just stayed there and let us point out his cuteness almost touching his feathers and he didn't even flinch. We think he just wanted to stay and play. Regarding how weird this looks... for some reason the blog makes it weird colors and such even though it is a jpeg. Oh and yes by the way, the on icon that has the computer making the load noises is dedicated to my great friend Bre Dizzle and her computer Lucifer... without them this icon would not exist!

SMART START HEALTHY HEART

Here is the beginning phase of my first project for computers and art. As you can see not much thought was put into the way I stylized this one. My teacher says I need to make it better (obviously) so I actually taking a picture of my computer and tracing it on Adobe Illustrator to make the computer part look a little more interesting. As for the faces I am going to make them my own... I don't know exactly how yet but we will see. WOW I just loaded the picture on here and it looks TOTALLY different then it did on illustrator, originally the faces were yellow but I am kind of digging the turquoise!

A REAL TREASURE

My friends and I had the privilege this weekend to attend Peach Days in Brigham City. Well what a pleasure when some of my friends friends caught us walking down main street and brought us up to tour his apartment. It was HONESTLY the coolest apartment I have ever been in. It was a former JC Penny, dance studio, apartments, you name it is been that. A million different people have walked through this place. It was in a historical building on main street and it was HUGE. aside from the space he was actually living in there were four other apartments that didn't have electricity but where still apart of his place. These pictures aren't even half of what we saw. What an amazing photo opportunity. Regarding the photo that looks like DI, yes that is his apartment, he is an auctioneer and keeps all of the stuff in his apartment because it is so big. What an amazing photo opportunity. I haven't actually edited the photos yet and I really just wanted to put these ones up to show what this place was like. As soon as I finish editing the photos from this amazing place I will put them up. Gosh this was a pleasure.... a real pleasure. (If you haven't already go through again and read this but say the words like I would TRAYsure and PLAYsure. It makes this experience much more enjoyable)!

CHEEZ IT!

Rumor on the street is that my digital photo teacher Chris took the Cheez It box photo.... I almost asked him to sign my Cheez It bag the other day but I wasn't sure the rumor was true. Here is one of the photos I turned in for our first assignment. This was taken in Navajo Lake a family vacation we take every Labor Day with our cousins. We were tye dying shirts and our hands got very colorful so I decided to take a picture. Chris loved the fact that my cousin Hunter was still wearing the gloves she was tye dying in instead of getting her hands messy. He told me I should try to reshoot though and get rid of all of the backround information and just make it hands. I think I will do just that the next time I am with the Cuz's.

SKETCHES FETCHES

Here is the next phase of my sketching life for my symbols and icons assignment. So I decided on 3 general ideas and still need to refine them but this is what I came up with. The regular old stick figure idea was out cause it was boring and I tried a more personal approach with the facial expressions. My teacher seemed to like it but he wants me to make it a little more unified like his OBVIOUS suggestion that I made clear in this with my AMAZING photoshop skills and REALLY good hand writing. These are supposed to be pretty universal so you see if you can tell what they mean.

BEST FRIENDS ARE MEANT FOR MODELING, NOT BEING THERE WHEN YOU ARE DOWN.

Well here is my first experience with Adobe Illustrator I had to start this durn assignment over again 3 times because it kept having issues saving so.... Also I won an award that morning for being the most amazing person ever at Adobe Illustrator EVER so..... and then I broke the sound barrier soooo uuummmmm...... Anywho....Getting used to the program was a little hard at first but after the third try I think I got the hang of it. I used the amazing method of layering tones. I started with a mid tone and then went darker, and then lighter... if that makes sense at all. I think the end result was pretty good and I am happy with it. As for the original photo I took that last year in Photo I for an album cover assignment. The beautiful model is my dear dear best friend Angela Madsen AKA Daphne Snowflake.

SKETCH IT UP DAWG!

For our first real assignment in Computers and Art we were assigned to make 3 universal icons or symbols. So we were sent off on our own to brainstorm ideas and come back with 10-50 sketches. Naturally I would do only 15. In my defense I really liked my first idea so I didn't really want to draw ideas that I knew I wasn't going to do. For my brilliant, amazing, wonderful idea, I decided to kind of make fun of Windows operating system. I always joke about how much I hate it after being a faithful Apple user since 2003, yes this is true, hence the idea. With that said, I began sketching my little heart out sitting out on my back porch for about 3 hours, I slowly but surly sketched my idea. The top.... 10 or so I did the typical stick figure icon and played on different things that happen to windows computers all the time, like crashing and getting viruses. The bottom 3 sketches or so I made the Windows sign a character and sketched things such as the Windows guy smoking "The Chronic" and such... my first idea ended up being the winner but he still wanted some more thinking about the whole thing.

LIVIN' THE COMPUTERS AND ART LIFE

So I was asked to start a blog for my computers and art class... OH BOY! Although a little late getting started, I am starting to get a little excited about it. My major may not be graphic design, but so far I have actually enjoyed the few things we have done for the class (which is unusual seeing as I hated 2D and 3D design). I really truly do think that I will enjoy this class. Oh yes and there may be some photos from my digital photography class that I put on here just for fun. Read more about my photography life in the "About Me" section. By the way I am the prettiest one in this picture...
